LA MARQUE — A man was stabbed with a butcher knife in his apartment Saturday after a dispute erupted about a pack of cigarettes, police said.
Willie Von Seifert Ross, 65, came to the victim’s apartment in the 1700 block of Main Street and confronted him about a pack of cigarettes, La Marque Detective Geoff Price said.
The victim, in his 50s, was stabbed just below his belly button, and a friend staying at the apartment called 911 about 12:13 a.m., Price said.
The victim was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy Hospital in Galveston and was in stable condition Saturday, Price said.
Police arrested Ross at the apartment complex and took him to Galveston County Jail, Price said. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and bond was set at $80,000, Price said.
